Invisible, but not innocuous: microplastics in water
No matter if it is car tires, cosmetics or our clothing: the sources from which microplastics emerge are manifold. The problem is that the solid, water-insoluble plastic particles, which have a size of five millimeters and smaller, sooner or later end up unfiltered in our waste water – and thus in the water cycle that transports the microplastics across the oceans into our food chain. A dangerous vicious circle.
